Six weeks after leaving The Skamania County Pioneer, I am adrift in retirement. I’ve been indolent as I’ve never been before. I have no external consequences, other than living beyond my means, but I have internal consequences. I know I am wasting time as time runs low.

So what shall I do today? Rain discourages working outdoors, though I have at least one minor project I could easily accomplish before noon.

Then what? Do I want to be out in public? Or remain solitary?

I’m hungry.
